Gamespy
Working Around the Firewall / Proxy
If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings,
Gamespy
Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:
6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat
Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)
Ok..
first of all you need to gain access into your router
-------
If you do not know how to configure you router.. i sugest you read the manual
first.. or ask someone who does
-------
First of all... We need to goto 'Port Fowarding'
Enter the port 47624 TCP, This is used for DirectX
Then enter the IP address to foward to (Usaually the PC your going to play
insane on, Normally the IP address will be in the style of: '192.168.0.0')
Enter the port
Start Port: 2300
End Port: 2400
and once again the IP address,
These ports are to be configured for BOTH <<TCP AND UDP!>>
These ports are for incomming and outgoing connections, In other words...
Hosting, And Joining!!
I hope this helps you, These ports can also be used if you have a SOFTWARE
FIREWALL on your PC...
with
port forwarding was that if any of the other pc's on the network wanted to
use that port at any time they were blocked from it. At the moment I prefer
using the dmz. Works for both hosting and joining.
If anyone wants to try it, you get to it (on any of the routers using
connexant firmware at least) by going to the misc configuration tab, enabling
dmz and making it point to the local IP address of your pc.
BTW, one way of checking this address is to click the little network
tellys (bottom right hand side of your desktop) then the support tab. If
they're not enabled, go to your network properties and tick the
"show icon in notification area when connected" box. I also
like to give the DMZ pc a static local IP address so the router can't
change it.
What I am struggling with at the moment is how to get one of the other pc's
on my net to play at the same time as I'm hosting. Ive tried using ipx and it
froze the game out. Maybe netbui..... If anyone knows the answer please let
us know.
